TORONTO (AP) -- The Ottawa Senators didn't let the last power play of the game go to waste.

Petr Schastlivy scored with the man advantage with 22 seconds left, sending Ottawa past Toronto 2-1 Saturday night and spoiling the Maple Leafs' home opener.

After Toronto's Travis Green gave Ottawa its 10th power play of the night when he hit Senators defenseman Curtis Leschyshyn in the head on a check in the Ottawa zone, Schastlivy chased down the puck by the right faceoff circle and fired a slap shot past goaltender Trevor Kidd.

"Both teams took their share of penalties,'' Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson said. "We were able get one at the end that won the game for us.''

The Senators went 2-for-10 with the man advantage; the Maple Leafs went 1-for-7.

Ottawa goalie Patrick Lalime expects more penalty-filled games because of the NHL's crackdown on obstruction.

"It's probably going to be surreal early on. They are calling a lot of things,'' Lalime said. "It's a big part of the game right now.''

Green, who didn't think he deserved a roughing penalty, said he hopes it doesn't continue to be.

"The fans don't come to see this. All these penalties were ridiculous,'' Green said.

Lalime made 22 saves for the Senators, who have been knocked out of the playoffs by the Maple Leafs the last three seasons.

Kidd, who made 33 saves, started in place of Ed Belfour, who missed the game because of an infected right index finger. Belfour, who recorded a shutout in his debut, and Kidd were both signed during the summer after Curtis Joseph joined Detroit.

"Kidd was unbelievable. We were lucky to win,'' Alfredsson said.

Toronto's Tie Domi scored on a 5-on-3 advantage at 14:09 of the first period. Alone in front, Domi one-timed Jonas Hoglund's centering pass.

The Maple Leafs killed six straight power plays before Marian Hossa tied it at 1 with a wrist shot past Kidd at 16:27 of the second.

Ottawa lost its opener 2-1 to New Jersey on Thursday night.
