OTTAWA (AP) -- Dany Heatley scored twice to extend his club-record
scoring streak to 15 games in the Ottawa Senators' 6-1 victory over the
Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night.
Heatley has at least one point in every game the Senators (13-2-0) have
played this season. He has 15 goals and 13 assists.
Buffalo, coming off a 5-2 home win over Toronto on Friday night, has
two wins in its last nine game.
Chris Neil, Daniel Alfredsson, Mike Fisher and Brian Pothier also
scored for the Senators, who lead the NHL with 75 goals and have
allowed a league-low 31.
Ray Emery made 24 saves and was just 5:39 away from his first career
shutout before 19,414 fans at the Corel Centre.
Derek Roy scored his first goal of the season for Buffalo.
Neil opened the scoring when he beat Buffalo goalie Martin Biron with a
second left in the first period. The play was reviewed and it was
determined that the puck went in before the buzzer sounded.
Alfredsson scored 59 seconds into the second and Heatley made it 3-0 16
seconds later. Fisher had a power-play goal five minutes later and
Heatley got his second of the game, this time with Ottawa short-handed,
just shy of the 17-minute mark.
Pothier scored Ottawa's lone goal of the third before Roy ended Emery's
shutout bid later in the period as the Sabres avoided being shut out
for a second time by the Senators this season.
Ottawa has been especially tough on Buffalo this season, winning all
three meetings between the two teams. The Senators have outscored the
Sabres 21-5, including a 10-4 drubbing in Buffalo on Nov. 2.
Alfredsson has five goals and five assists against Buffalo this season.
