Pictures
Finally updated the pictures. There are a few from Dynamo... You know, with the stripes on their socks, if you cover up the sweater... he almost looks like he could be a Leaf.
I'm just saying.

Return to Znojmo
According to iDNES (and Havlat's European agent Josef Machala), Marty will be returning to Znojmo and is expected to play this coming Thursday. The playoffs for the Czech league are just 12 games away, and Znojmo has managed to claw itself up to a 3-way tie for 8th place-- the cut-off slot to go on.
They speculated that there was a payoff of roughly 40k USD to Dynamo Moscow for his rights, but his agent wasn't interested in talking about that.

Training
With a very big-huge-super-fantastic thank you to the person who pointed these pictures out (whom I am not certain would like to be identified), Marty training with Tony Greco in Ottawa.
Also, a better translation of the Blesk article I posted about yesterday is available at Hockey Rodent.

Leaving Moscow
Marty's departure from Dynamo grows more interesting daily! Tonight I came across this article from sports.ru, which basically has the General Manager of Moscow Dynamo saying that as far as he's aware, Havlat is still under contract and he is expected to play in the upcoming games for Dynamo. He says there is some kind of misunderstanding with Havlat's agent, but hopefully they'll talk soon and everything will be straightened out one way or another.
I have to admit that I sort of put this off as "typically Russian" and sort of funny, until I came across a similar article in Czech press (although it should be noted that this is Blesk, and they are fairly tabloidish). Havlat's agent again states that it was planned all along that Marty would leave in January, whereas the Dynamo GM insists the contract was to be through April.
Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye on this. In the meantime, Marty is currently back in Czechia and even went to see his former Znojmo teammates (including Martin Prusek, currently on loan to Znojmo) take on Plzen.

Garrioch
And now we have Bruce Garrioch's confirmation. Not that that's always particularly meaningful... From today's Ottawa Sun:
Meanwhile, Sens winger Martin Havlat has left Moscow Dynamo, where he was being paid $300,000/month, and returned to his home town in the Czech Republic.
"He went there to play and get ready for the NHL regular season," said Allan Walsh, Havlat's agent. "But since it doesn't look like there's going to be one, he wants to go home and get ready to play for his country (in a tournament in Sweden in February)."
That should be the third part of the Euro Hockey Tour, if I'm not mistaken.

Continental Cup
As it turns out, keeping track of the Continental Cup is very easy because it's very well covered on the IIHF site. However, Marty isn't playing.
Babelfishing the Dynamo site reveals that he didn't travel with them to Hungary because they decided to give him a little rest. The IIHF site, on the other hand, reports that there are rumors that he's left Dynamo, and there's at least one Czech article suggesting the same thing. If I'm translating correctly (which you should never count on!), his contract with Dynamo was only binding through January, and for now he's just going to take a couple of weeks to practice on his own. Then he will consider offers (assuming the NHL hasn't resumed) though he may also return to Dynamo.

Quick Update
I have been really slackerific here, my apologies. No excuses, just apologies.
Dynamo Moscow will be taking part in the final segment of the Continental Cup this weekend in Hungary. From my understanding of something I translated... somewhere... Marty isn't particularly fired up about it. He wants to win, of course, but doesn't have any particular investment in it. I'll try to find information about it, but I'm not sure I want to delve too deeply into the Hungarian language. I think I'm beginning to forget English!
I have a smattering of pictures lurking around on my drive that I will try to get posted some time in the near future. None of them are particularly outstanding, although this one recently published on the Denik Sport site is kind of amusing for its spanking implications. Given where Marty's stick his, he's probably the one who deserves the spanking.
