Updates!

See, I wasn't making it up, I really am updating! I added the 30 or so pictures I had lying around, and right now the galleries are updating. They may look a little uglier than usual. It's been about a half year since I used jalbum, and in that time, would you believe they had the nerve to update the software? Yeah. I'm feeling exceptionally stupid today, so I just put the pictures in there and I'll clean stuff up eventually.

I will need to update a few statistics from the pre-World Championship games Marty played in, provided the information is still out there. Boy, let me tell you, procrastination -- even on things you enjoy -- just makes everything harder.

From the Ottawa Citizen today: Allan Walsh, Havlat's agent, said that, after examining various options, both sides agreed they'd be happy with a one-year deal. The only drawback for the Senators is that Havlat can be an unrestricted free agent in two years.

"There were all kinds of discussions, but, in the end, it was mutually decided that it would be for one year," Walsh said. "Marty is very happy. He feels he has been treated very fairly."

He should. He received a significant raise over his qualifying offer of $1.748 million, and even over the $2.3 million he would have been paid last year if not for the lockout.

Walsh said Havlat was anxious for training camp to open.

"He has been in Montreal all summer, and I've never seen him as focused and as determined," Walsh said. "He's in his best shape ever and is looking forward to having a great year."

And from the Ottawa Sun: With a contract, Havlat won't have to go through arbitration and can spend the rest of the summer getting ready for Ottawa's training camp, which will open Sept. 13 at the Corel Centre.

"I'm not surprised, I'm just happy," said Havlat. "Arbitration was an option, but I'm happy with the deal. I don't have to think about this. I just have to think about hockey.

OK WITH LEFT WING

Havlat said he'll shift to left wing if he's asked.

"It is going to be up to the coach to use me wherever he wants to use me," said Havlat, who bounced around Europe with stops in the Czech Republic and Russia last season."Nobody had fun playing in Europe. If you are used to playing in the NHL, then Europe doesn't even compare because the NHL is the best league in the world and you want the chance to win the Stanley Cup."

Also, he's the NHLPA Player of the Day. Aww.

Also-also! Hana, are you still at the same email address?
